Ronnie Tan is the founder/principal of Design Objectives Pte Ltd, a communication graphic design firm formed in 1979, specialising in Environmental/Branding/Wayfinding and Signage design. He has established himself as one of the leaders in the field of Environmental/Branding and Graphic Design.
Ronnie earned his Master of Design from the University of New South Wales, Australia. He is Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) and a member of the Society for Environmental Graphic Design. He was the past president of the Designers’ Association Singapore. His extensive experience was gained from the list of coveted international projects. Some of his notable works are the signage program for the National University Hospital, the Alexandra Hospital (now known as Khoo Teck Puat Hospital), The Fullerton Hotel Singapore, The Raffles Grand Beijing Hotel, Beijing, China, among others.
He has been invited to be in the panel of judges for numerous design competitions, namely: The Young Designers Award organised by Singapore Trade Development Board, Gold Design Awards by World Gold Council, Best Exhibition Stand Design Award - 2nd AP Imaging & Information by HQ Link, Horseman Design and Print Award, jointly organised by Shriro Paper (M) Sdn Bhd and Arjo Wiggins Fine Papers Export and Singapore International Furniture Design Award, organized by Singapore International Furniture Council.
Ronnie has received numerous design awards amongst which is the Gold Medal Award for the “Athens Olympics” postage stamp design awarded by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and visual identity design for an all day dining restaurant at the Sheraton Taipei Hotel, Award for Design Excellence by Creativity, USA for Branding design, Wayfinding and Signage design, Packaging design, Publication design and Stamp design.
Among the international publications in which the firm’s work has been featured are “Creativity” a design annual published by Art Direction Book Company (USA), Trademark and Symbols of the World (Japan), Korean Design Journal(Korea), Brochure and Pamphlet Collection (Japan), Washington Trademark Designs (USA), Dimensional Illustrators (USA), Japan/Asian Graphics and The Big Book of Colour In Design (USA).
